Welcome to Mintaka House, a private, design-forward retreat set on 2.3 acres in Joshua Tree.

Named after Mintaka, one of the three stars in Orion’s Belt, our home was made for desert days, star-filled nights and slowing down beneath the High Desert sky.

Spend the day by the private pool, relax beneath the shaded pergola or find a hammock with a book. Watch the sunset from the pool, grill dinner outside, gather around the fire, then end the night in the in-ground hot tub beneath the stars.

INDOOR LIVING
Mintaka House sleeps six in three bedrooms, each with a king bed—an especially comfortable setup for three couples, friends or families traveling together. No one gets stuck with the small bed.

Each bedroom includes quality linens, custom blackout shades, a ceiling fan and closets for clothing storage. The open living area provides a comfortable place to gather or cool off between desert adventures, with fast Wi-Fi and Smart TVs for nights in. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for breakfast before the park, dinner at home or a lazy afternoon by the pool. Mornings start at the dedicated coffee + tea bar, with a Nespresso, French press, pour-over setup and electric kettle. And when coffee hour turns into cocktail hour, Mintaka has a separate full bar with cocktail-making essentials and wine, Champagne and cocktail glassware. Gather around the custom live-edge maple dining table for six or take dinner outside beneath the covered pergola with a separate outdoor dining table for six. Outside is where Mintaka really comes to life. Rather than one traditional backyard, the property has multiple separate outdoor spaces for swimming, lounging, dining, bathing, stargazing and gathering around the fire. Your group can spend the day together while still having plenty of room to spread out. And because this is the desert, shade matters. Covered outdoor areas make it possible to enjoy Mintaka throughout the day—not just after the sun goes down.

OUTDOOR LIVING
Pool + Hot Tub: Cool off in the private 24' × 12' in-ground pool, positioned on the west side of the home for beautiful desert sunsets. After dark, unwind in the private in-ground hot tub beneath the stars.

Outdoor Soaking Tub + Shower: Separate from the hot tub, our outdoor soaking tub and shower offer another way to enjoy the desert air and open sky.

Pergola + Outdoor Dining: A covered pergola provides welcome daytime shade with outdoor dining for six overlooking the pool.
Hammocks + Stargazing: Find a hammock for an afternoon nap or settle in after dark and look up. Mintaka is named for one of the stars in Orion’s Belt, so stargazing feels particularly fitting here.

Fire Pit + BBQ: Grill dinner outside, then gather around the fire as the desert cools and the stars come out.

LOCATION
One of the things we love most about Mintaka is the balance: private enough to feel like you've escaped to the desert, without feeling isolated.

You're still close to coffee, restaurants, groceries, vintage shops and the places you came to the High Desert to explore.

Spend your days hiking Joshua Tree National Park, rock climbing, vintage shopping, exploring the local art scene or discovering our favorite High Desert spots—then come home for sunset by the pool and a hot tub beneath the stars.

Guests have private access to the entire home and outdoor guest areas, including the pool, in-ground hot tub, outdoor soaking tub + shower, covered pergola, outdoor dining, hammocks, fire pit and BBQ.
There are no shared guest spaces.

Free private parking and EV charging are available at the property.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Pool + Hot Tub Service: The pool and hot tub are professionally serviced regularly. If scheduled service falls during your reservation, our technician may need brief access to the pool area.

Outdoor Soaking Tub + Shower: This is separate from the in-ground hot tub and available for guests to enjoy throughout their stay.

Desert Wildlife: Rabbits, quail, coyotes and other desert wildlife may visit the property. Please enjoy wildlife from a safe distance and never feed or approach wild animals.

Desert Quiet: One of the things we love about the High Desert is its peace and quiet, and sound travels surprisingly far here. Please be considerate of our neighbors and observe local quiet hours. Mintaka is designed for relaxing, reconnecting and enjoying the desert rather than parties or events.

Pets: Mintaka House does not accept pets. Service animals and other assistance animals are accommodated in accordance with Airbnb policy and applicable law. We're surrounded by a natural desert environment where coyotes and other wildlife may be present on the property. Joshua Tree National Park does not allow service animals on most of its hikes to protect wildlife and the environment and there are fines so if you plan to hike please be aware that if you bring a service animal it is agasint Airbnb policy to leave the animal alone in the Airbnb.
